One of the latest trends in travel is all about forgoing sprawling suites or grandiose villas in favor of living small.

Tiny home hotels and resorts have been popping up throughout the country, from themed tiny homes like a “Hobbit House” at the Wee Casa Resort in Lyons, Colorado, to River and Twine, a tiny home hotel complex in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, that’s surrounded by restaurants and breweries. They’re affordable. They’re adorable. And they’re a fun way to sample the tiny home movement.

But there’s one tiny home resort that’s bidding for some attention from travelers who have a penchant for national parks but don’t necessarily enjoy camping. The Tiny Homes at St. Mary Village are set on the east side of Glacier National Park in Montana, with a shuttle service that takes visitors into the park plus cozy amenities like jetted tubs, mini appliances and an on-site espresso shop.

Yes, the 10 tiny homes may be small. But the glacier-carved mountainous peaks in the backdrop are, well, large and remarkable. The tiny homes are also set near St. Mary Lake. The resort does a good job of evoking the imagery, saying this:

“At St. Mary, the Great Plains of Montana stretch to the East and the mountains of Glacier National Park scrape the sky to the west.”

The result is a dramatic backdrop for the tiny homes that exude charm with their punchy red trims, flower boxes and Montana-designed goods stocking the interiors.

Tiny home rates at St. Mary Lodge & Resort start at $290 a night. The tiny home village, which made its grand (or shall we say petite?) entrance in 2017 joins more than 100 other guest rooms that are spread out throughout the resort and that range from rustic and budget-friendly to more luxe and upscale.

Each of the tiny homes has a separate bath house with two sinks, a shower, a jetted tub and a toilet. The homes themselves sleep up to four, with a sliding barn-style door that divvies up the sleeping area from a cozy living space. Also, each of the tiny homes comes with a two-burner stove, coffee maker, microwave, portable sink, stackable chairs and foldable dining table. They have detached bathhouses, with jetted tubs.

Who’s ready for their next little adventure?
