Just a few weeks after Mars Wrigley broke the Guinness World Record for largest-ever chocolate nut bar with a 4,728 pound Snickers, Hershey took over the title by creating a nearly 6,000 pound Reese’s Take 5 bar.

Breaking the record by 1,215 pounds, the new gigantic Take 5 bar weighs a whopping 5,943 pounds and measures 9 feet long by 5.5 feet wide by 2 feet high.

The record-setting candy bar and Take 5’s existence in the first place is thanks to Michael Nolt, a chocolate fellow and member of the research and development team at The Hershey Company. It took Nolt and 40 other Hershey employees five days to create the final product. Reese’s shared a time-lapse video of the construction of the bar on Instagram:

🙌 Repost from @guinnessworldrecords • The nature of record-breaking is quite competitive, that’s why we’re not surprised that just after Snickers broke the record for the largest chocolate nut bar, @Reese’s has taken that title with their Take 5 bar! Adding pretzels, caramel, and peanut butter to reflect the ingredients of the standard size Take 5 candy, they broke the record by a staggering 1,215 pounds, bringing the final total to be 5,943 pounds. Reese’s wanted to make a splash in their advertising spot for Sunday’s big game – so they felt the only way to do this was to literally “go big”. They definitely succeeded! 🍫 ———————————————— #guinnessworldrecords #reeses #candy #take5 #chocolate #caramel #peanutbutter #pretzels #tasty

If you haven’t heard of Reese’s Take 5, you’re not alone. The record-setting candy bar came ahead of a Super Bowl commercial announcing it as “the best bar you’ve never heard of.” The bar was created in 2004 and has peanut butter, peanuts, pretzels, caramel and chocolate.

“The Reese’s team believes records, even those just a few weeks old, are meant to be broken,” Reese’s Veronica Villasenor said in a press release. “You might not have been familiar with Reese’s Take 5 before, but now, the bar will become your newest obsession.”

The massive Take 5 and the Snickers bar were not the only record-breaking foods created in the past few weeks. Bush’s Beans also made a 1,087 pound, 70-layer dip.

While the giant Snickers bar contained 3,500 pounds of chocolate, along with 1,200 pounds of caramel, peanuts and nougat, the bean dip had 10 different seven-layer bean dips, creating a total of 70 layers. The dips included Caprese, Mediterranean, Cuban, veggie, loaded baked potato and others.

The massive dip took 19 people 227 hours to create. It was donated to a local charitable organization.
